Choosing the right image to start with is probably the most important step in ordering your custom paint by numbers. So how do we make sure the photo you choose is the best?Let's take a look at our image editing / correction process here at  paintbynumbersforever.com

*  PHOTO QUALITY AND SIZE

Well, first! Image quality is one of the most important factors in custom paint by numbers picture. There is no tool that can convert a low quality image to a high quality one. Maybe in the future, because one can often hope for the best, right?Now, if you use a low quality photo for a custom paint with number, the end result will disappoint you.

Now to some technical details!

 The standard size of a painting by numbers kit is 40x50 cm or 16x20 inches. If the image has 72PPI, the image resolution should be 1152x1440px, where DPI / PPI mean Pixels per inch and DPI for Dots per inch.If the image has 96 dpi, the image resolution should be 1536x1920px.

WHAT ARE PIXEL, DPI AND PPI?

A pixel is the smallest part of an image. Simply put, when the body is made up of small cells, the digital image is made up of pixels.DPI and PPI are sometimes used interchangeably and represent the pixel density in one inch. If the image is 72 dpi horizontally, it means that there are 72 pixels on the x-axis of one inch of the image. You can check these details on each photo as follows:

* Right-click on the image to display a drop-down list
* Click the properties at center of the list. Click on the details in the upper menu window below the title.
* Scroll down a bit to see all the details.
* Digital images can typically have a density of 72 to 300 dpi. Higher dpi means higher image quality.

If you order a 40x50cm custom PBN standard size, we recommend choosing a clear photo with a resolution of 800x1000 pixels. An important technical detail to keep in mind is that a large image, such as 500 x 500 pixels, may be blurred.

The last thing we need is a buried image. The image is smaller than naturally blurred, so selecting a photo smaller than 500 x 625 pixels is not recommended.

Once you give us a clear picture, your work is ready. The rest of the items will be taken care of by our professional designer. Now let's see how we prepare your photos for custom kits.

HOW CAN IT BE PREVENTED?

For Windows:

* First, locate the image file on your computer.
* Right-click on the image and select 'Properties'
* Click on 'Details'.
* Check the width and height of the image in pixels to make sure that each dimension is more important than 750 pixels. Anything below this can cause pixelation.

For Mac:

* Right-click on the file in "Search Engine".
* Click on "Get information"
* Under "More information" you will find the dimensions (pixels) of the image.
* Check the width and height of the image in pixels to make sure each dimension is larger than 750 pixels to prevent pixelation.

After checking, if you find that the image size is more than 750 pixels, then you have the right to move on to the next tip! If not, we recommend that you find a new one.

SIMPLIFY THE BACKGROUND

Having a background with a little noise and clutter is a good idea. This is because if your photo is converted to a PBN image, it will have 24 colors. If there is a lot of noise in the background, your main subject will probably lose some details.Also choose a photo with small subject, for example, if you want a group photo of a friend or a photo from a family reunion, 4-5 people are enough for a detailed and clear picture on PBN.

It is recommended that the selected image has a blurred background with only a few details and colors to avoid shading the subject.

FOCUS ON THE MAIN SUBJECT

Your image should take up the most space in the image. Therefore, it is recommended that you trim all other backgrounds before creating your custom paint by numbers to ensure that the object is the center of your image and occupies at least 70% of the content.

COLORS AND SHADE

It is important to make the right choice when it comes to enthusiastic and high color contrast, as these factors can be in deciding between a good paint by number and a light paint.
For example, color differences are very important. If your set is usually in one color, it may not be good. The best sets are made with images with a different background color compared to the subject. This will allow the subject to dominate instead of the background of the image itself. It is also wise to stay away from "white" because it creates an optical illusion.
The point is that the human eye and the computer do not see colors in the same shades. So let's say that when we see something white, the software can see it as beige or light gray. White also lacks high contrast, which is a bad result for the best Paint by Numbers image.

ASPECT RATIO

The image used to make your kit should have the same aspect ratio as the canvas you ordered.

What happens when you order a 40x50cm paint with numbers kit and send a square photo with it?

Can you set a square image in a rectangular frame? In the same way, a square custom paint by numbers photo will not fit into 40x50 cm paint by numbers kit.

 So what do we do with your photo?

We'll examine the image to see if you can cut out more details without affecting the subject of the image. If possible, we will crop the image to match the proportion of the ordered custom painting and the problem will be solved.

You can do it if you want. We will show you how:

* Right-click on the image to display a drop-down list
* Click "Edit with photos".
* Find and click "Aspect Ratio" in the right sidebar near the top right corner of the Photos window.
* Select 10: 8 from the drop-down list (this is the same 5: 4, 4: 5 or 40x50 cm aspect ratio)
* You can rotate, flip, straighten, and resize the image before saving the final cropped copy.

Photoshop offers the same features, but it's not as easy as photos.
